This was my final year project (FYP) for my Game design BSc. For this project I designed and developed a 3D Cyberpunk environment, consisting of 3 individual scenes of a coffee house, charging station, and connecting alleyways. Each of these scenes were developed by 3D modelling in Autodesk Maya, textured in substance painter, and built within Unreal engine 4.
Alongside this environment, I wrote my dissertation covering all 3D Modelling, texturing, lighting methods and techniques used in creating this environment. And background research into analysing the literature, media, associated architecture, and key visual elements within the cyberpunk & dystopian genres. As well as researching asset creation methodologies within games & film. Finalised with an evaluation of the project’s design and development based on participant feedback acquired from a questionnaire, determining improvements and opinions on the project, accompanied by a critical self-evaluation.
The aims and objectives of this project were to develop an original designed 3D environment and to learn new techniques to improve in my proficiency & quality within 3D asset creation.
Here are some showcases of the development of this project.
